Diane Lane turns 48 years old today.
Born on Jan. 22, 1965 in New York, American actress Diane Lane made her debut at the age of 13 in A Little Romance with Sir Laurence Olivier. Soon, she was featured on the cover of Time and became a famous Hollywood child star.
In the early 1980s, Lane made her breakout performance in Francis Ford Coppola’s films The Outsiders and Rumble Fish. But after Streets of Fire and The Cotton Club, which were both commercial and critical failures, Lane’s career languished.
Until 2002, Lane became famous again by starring in Unfaithful with Richard Gere. By playing Connie Sumner, a housewife who indulges in an adulterous fling with a mysterious book deeler, Lane received Best Actress for National Society of Film Critics Award, New York Film Critics Circle Award and the Satellite Award. She was also nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globes.
Her films also include Under the Tuscan Sun in 2003, Must Love Dogs in 2005, and Hollywoodland in 2006.
Her current husband is Josh Brolin. They got married on Aug. 15, 2004.
Her latest film is Man of Steel, an American superhero film directed by Zack Snyder. Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Kevin Costner, the film will premiere on June 14.
