Music power couple Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z are doing their best to make sure their first child, Blue Ivy Carter, lives a life of luxury. The couple reportedly has a nursery at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where Jay-Z spends a lot of his time as a minority owner and fan of the Nets.
A source told Us Weekly that the couple are paying a $1 million a year for the nursery, which has a space just for their 12-month-old daughter.
“Jay rents a luxurious basement suite for $1 million a year,” the source told the site. “It has an area for Blue filled with toys.”
The suite is just one of 11 spaces available for rent and the average cost is $55,000. This area isn’t just for kids, though.
“It's all glass with a champagne bar and TV screen,” Us Weekly’s source explained. “Jay lets friends use his digs when he's not there.”
Blue Ivy has certainly had an exciting first year. Back in May, when Jay-Z appeared on Oprah’s Master Class, he said that she’ll be the “worst, spoiled little kid ever.”
“I imagine I'll take things I learned from my mom and things I've learned from raising my nephews and apply that,” he said about parenting. “Then at the end of the day, I just know I'll probably have the worst, spoiled little kid ever.”
Jay-Z and Beyonce married in 2008 and appeared on stage together during his last of eight shows at the Barclays Center last fall. They performed “Crazy In Love” together. Beyonce spent New Year’s in Las Vegas and recently wrote on her Tumblr page, “Happy New Year's. Let's make it ours.”
