The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards turned out to be a fantastic night for Jennifer Lawrence, who took home the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for Silver Linings Playbook.
She brought her parents with her to the ceremony. And even though ABC News confirmed Lawrence's dress did not tear during the ceremony, she did have something to be embarrassed about: her gushing parents Gary and Karen.
US Weekly reports Entertainment Tonight caught up with the Lawrence family after Jennifer's big win, and her parents were a little more than enthusiastic.
"I'm so proud," Gary said of his daughter. "I feel like I've got Secretariat in the Derby."
With this remark, an embarrassed Jennifer covered her face and laughed. Her mother's praise was more tear-jerking than cringe-worthy.
"I just can't stop crying," Karen said. "I don't have anything to say because we'll embarrass her. We always do!"
Karen continued, "I'm so proud because she's remained who she is throughout this whole process and it hasn't changed her. That's what I'm proud of. I don't care whether she wins or loses necessarily, but because she won and she's stayed strong and true to herself, that's what makes me proud."
With this SAG win, Jennifer is a front-runner for the Best Actress Oscar at this year's Academy Awards, which air on Feb. 24.
