Popular late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, Jan. 25. The award comes in the wake of Kimmel taking a giant step in his career, getting the same evening time-slot as veteran hosts David Letterman and Jay Leno.
Gossip Center reports Kimmel was accompanied by his fiancée Molly McNearney, his parents, and Carson Daly, who previously interned for Kimmel.
Daily Mail reports the ceremony took place at the El Capitan Theater on Holly Boulevard, where Kimmel records his evening show.
“My parents brought me here to Hollywood to visit the Walk of Fame when I was 10 years old, and I never imagined that they would leave me here to fend for myself,” Kimmel said during his acceptance speech. “Last night, Matt Damon hijacked the show, and today I’m getting a star on Hollywood Boulevard!”
Kimmel joins in the ranks of celebrities like Britney Spears, Steven Spielberg, Bill Cosby, Jay Leno, and Mae West, who all have stars on the Walk of Fame.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.
