After a week of speculation, fueled mostly by the singer himself, NBC confirmed today that Justin Bieber will host Saturday Night Live. While he has appeared on the show in the past, he has never hosted.
NBC said that Bieber will host on Feb. 9, two weeks after Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar will be on the show on Jan. 26. Silver Linings Playbook actress Jennifer Lawrence is scheduled to host on Jan. 19 with the Lumineers as musical guest.
Bieber will also perform on the show, which is timed for the release of Believe Acoustic on Jan. 29.
Bieber has been teasing fans about a possible SNL appearance since last week. On Monday, he tweeted, “maybe im hosting and performing on SNL...maybe. :)”
For fans wondering if SNL’s writers will get to make fun of the controversial photos of Bieber smoking pot, sources for TMZ say that his camp has told them that nothing is off limits. They were told they can push the pop star as far as possible and that jokes about the photos are allowed.
The guest spot will occur during a break in his Believe world tour.
