Justin Timberlake reveals ‘Suit & Tie’ single with Jay-Z, sends fans open letter (Audio)

By Daniel S Levine,

Justin Timberlake is finally going back to music with his first new album since 2006. On Sunday, he unveiled his new album’s first single, titled “Suit & Tie” featuring Jay-Z. Timberlake also published an open letter to fans, announcing the album’s title and describing how much fun he had.

The singer/actor teased the Internet last week with a video and tweet announcing, “I’m ready.” Since the video was published on Thursday, it has been viewed over 5.8 million times.

Today, Timberlake confirmed that a new album is on the way in an open letter to fans. “I hope this gets to you the right way. It's the only way I know to do it. Some people may criticize me for the last 3 days. But it was fun, right?? Right?!?! Besides, I'd rather speak directly to all of you. And, who can knock me for having a little bit of fun with it?” he writes. “Well... No more teasing. Although, it was A LOT of fun. (Did I mention that I'm having fun with this?? Ha!)”

He then turns serious, revealing that he’s “gearing up for a big 2013.”

He began recording the new album in June. “The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn't expect anything out of it. I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs. It was probably the best time I've had in my career... Just creating with no rules and/or end goal in mind and really enjoying the process,” he continued.

It will be titled The 20/20 Experience and Timberlake promises that it will be out this year.

“That's all I'm giving you for now... I know, I know! Again, with the teasing!!!” he concluded. “Get ready. This is going to be fun (well, at least it is for me).”

Timberlake also posted “Suit & Tie,” his new single, which you can hear below. This is Timberlake’s first album since FutureSex/LoveSounds in 2006 and is his return to music after playing roles in films like The Social Network and In Time.
