Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld has no problem going public with his views on legalizing gay marriage.
To end Paris’ Grand Palais Fashion show, he sent two models in couture bridal gowns down the catwalk, escorted by his nephew, reported The Associated Press.
According to Lagerfeld, he “doesn’t even understand the debate (in France)” and claims, “since 1904 the church and state have been separate,” he told the AP.
Although Lagerfeld hopes to convey his opinions on legalizing gay marriage, he apparently draws the line at gay couples adopting children. The Gaurdian confirmed that he was significantly “less keen” on this idea.
Lagerfeld’s political statement occurred less than 24 hours after French President Francois Hollande announced his plans to legalize gay marriage. According to to the Associated Press, Hollande is rumored to be meeting with opponents of the law this Friday.
