Kathy Griffin was criticized by some for trying to kiss Anderson Cooper’s crotch several times on live television during CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage, but the outrageous comedienne is offering no apologies. In fact, she thinks she did some people a favor.
“If you think this is the part where I'm going to apologize, you are sorely mistaken,” she told David Letterman on the Late Show Wednesday night, reports USA Today. “I tried, ladies and gays, I tried. For you.”
Letterman, who brought up Griffin’s antics last year when she stripped down, then played the entire clip of the incident, asking, “Let's say a man on television did that to you. What would your reaction be?”
“If it was Anderson Cooper, myself and every other gay guy and woman, I'd unzip so fast. Hands down,” Griffin replied.
The Huffington Post notes that the Parent’s Television Council was quick to criticize CNN for allowing Griffin to do that and airing it.
“People are Tweeting things like, ‘I didn't even watch the show, but now I have to explain to my children what you did,'” Griffin said to Letterman.
