Katie Couric snags interview with Manti Te’o

Katie Couric is set to interview Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o and his parents, Brian and Ottilia, who will talk on camera for the first time since news broke regarding the player’s online girlfriend hoax.

The interview, which will be pre-recorded, will air on Jan. 24 on ABC’s talk show Katie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It has been said that throughout the week previews of the interview will be released by ABC.

The New York Times reported that Oprah Winfrey also attempted to snag an interview with the player, but was unsuccessful.

Though Te’o has yet to speak on the subject of the hoax in front of the camera, he did comment on the issue in an ESPN interview, Reuters stated.

"I wasn't faking it," he said. "I wasn't part of this."

Last Wednesday, the football player issued a statement insisting that he had never met his girlfriend in person and had ultimately been deceived by the whole mess.
