President Barack Obama will be sworn in as president for the second time Monday, Jan. 21, but Katy Perry, Usher and Mindless Behavior as well as many others got America’s children on their feet in early support of the president at the Kids Inaugural event this weekend.
According to Washington Post, the Kids Event took place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and featured the cast of Glee, Far East Movement in addition to the stars named before.
The event was attended by roughly 5,000 children of Military families as well as First Lady Michelle Obama, daughters Sasha and Malia, who couldn’t help but to get on their feet when Perry took the stage.
“I'm very proud to be here...and to see the Obamas and the Bidens here for four more years,” Perry said to the crowd.
“Now, inauguration is a pretty big deal,” Mrs. Obama said as quoted by E! News. "But I have to tell you that my very favorite part of this entire weekend is being right here with all of you.”
The First Lady was joined by Vice President Joe Biden’s wife Jill in heading the event in Washington D.C.
Perry performed such hits as “Teenage Dream” and “Firework” while Usher took on “Yeah,” “O.M.G.” and “Without You.”
