Kelly Clarkson not insulted by gay rumors

By Sarah McClanahan,

Kelly Clarkson, recently engaged, opens up to Cosmopolitan surrounding rumors about her sexuality.

This is not the first time Clarkson has had to set sources straight who thought she was more interested in girls. In fact, the rumors date back to 2011. In an interview with E! Online, she denied she was gay, believing the comments were actually hurting her chances at finding a mate. “It’s just not helping me because I am straight. No boy wants to hit on me because I make mean songs about them, and they think I'm gay.” Clarkson noted.

Clarkson spoke further about the issue for the February edition of Cosmopolitan Magazine. She explains the gossip may have started when she did not have a boyfriend for an extended period of time, but chastises people for making assumptions about her based on that fact. “Being single doesn't mean you're gay. But I'm never insulted by it, obviously.”

She continues on the subject, playfully remarking that she prefers the girls who hit on her compared to the guys. “I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my god, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. Usually the guys who hit on me are tools.”

Fortunately for her, she has already found a suitable male love interest in the form of her music manager turned fiancé, Brandon Blackstock. And she appears more joyous than ever before. Clarkson took to Twitter on December 15 to announce their engagement from the previous night. “I'M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)”

A few weeks ago, she uploaded a picture of her engagement ring on her WhoSay account, describing it as a yellow canary diamond.
