'Late Show with David Letterman'-Wednesday Recap

By Cristina Bermudez,

Last night on The Late Show, special guests Kim and Kourtney Kardashian spoke about Kris Humphries, Kanye West, annulments, family and their new show Kourtney and Kim Take Miami. Blues musician, Buddy Guy, also spoke about his upbringing, the music industry and performing at the Ed Sullivan Theatre.

“Tonight, David welcomes ‪@KimKardashian & ‪@KourtneyKardash and ‪@TheRealBuddyGuy,” the show tweeted.

The show opened up with jokes about hot topics such as the cannon from the Revolutionary War that was still loaded and found in New York City. More jokes continued about the NRA and gun laws, the flu epidemic, Lance Armstrong and Letterman ended this segment of jokes by finishing it off with a joke about the fiscal cliff, debt ceiling and how the National debt clock is the cause of our national debt.

Letterman fit in a presidential campaign joke in honor of President Barack Obama's upcoming inauguration next Monday, saying that this will be when the 2016 campaign begins. Oprah Winfrey was also a topic of laughter tonight when he said that only Oprah would be fired off her show because people had enough of her nonsense, and then starts her own network. However, if he gets fired, nobody will be seeing the David Network.

Continuing on with the humor, Letterman presented a few Super Bowl fun facts in preparation for Super Bowl 47. A few of the facts included:

-1/3 of Americans, 100 million people, bet on the Super Bowl.

-1.25 billion chicken wings were consumed during last year's Super Bowl.

-No referee has ever won the super bowl.

-After Super Bowl Sunday, the average American gains 27 pounds.

-Pre-game for next years super bowl has already begun.

Before interviewing the Kardashian sisters and Buddy Guy, David then presented the top 10 list of words that sound like achoo.

Which led into the interview with Kim and Kourtney Kardashian. Throughout the interview, Letterman continued teasing them about all their shows, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kourtney and Kim Take Miami and NY, their shoe company, fragrances and make up line. He applauded them for being good in business and joked about them printing their own money. “With your face on it,” Kim responded.

Kourtney confessed to having mixed emotions and struggles with whether or not she should have her two children, Mason and Penelope, on their shows. She also said being a mother is her favorite role and they are the happiest when they are together. David then admitted he thought her boyfriend and father of her children, Scott Disick, was a hot head.

There wouldn’t be an interview with Kim without bringing up her marriage to Kris Humphries. So, of course, Letterman brought it up humorously and then congratulated her on her pregnancy with her boyfriend Kanye West.

When David asked Kim, “when are you going to wrap this up?,” in reference to her marriage to Humphries, Kim responded by saying they are still married and all she wants is to move on and for him to move on as well. Humphries is suing her for fraud. “It’s hard,” she said.

Kourtney, however, defended her sister by joking that if Kim wanted to marry for publicity, she would’ve at least chosen someone people know.

At the end of the show, Chicago blues legend Buddy Guy performed. He spoke about his upbringing, his family, the beginnings of blues music, his career and guitars. Buddy then performed passionately and ended the show on a lively note.
