Things for Lindsay Lohan are getting a little more complicated than usual as the actress is currently in between lawyers after trying to win back former attorney Shawn Holley. Holley has since filed paperwork to dismiss herself from Lohan's case, and the troubled actress is now at the mercy of an attorney who is not licensed to practice in the state of California.
Us Weekly reports that New York lawyer Mark Heller is representing the 26-year-old actress in her case for reckless driving and lying to police, the decision of which could send her back to jail. However, Heller is not allowed to practice in the state of California and must rely on a ‘sponsor’ to go through with the trial.
According to TMZ, Heller must find a sponsor to represent him through the trial before he is allowed to set foot in a courtroom. Heller chose Lindsay Berger Sacks, a woman who has been an inactive member of the state for seventeen years and just became active as of one week ago.
Lohan's fate now lies in the hands of Berger Sacks, who admitted to TMZ that she has never practiced law and has never met Heller.
The trial is expected to begin January 30.
