Marvel could be looking for a couple of comics to take on roles in the studio’s next big superhero film, Guardians of the Galaxy. Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler are reportedly being considered for the film.
According to Latino Review, Marvel is looking to see if the two comedy stars are available to join the film, but what roles they could play is unknown. They could take on roles that will need motion capture technology to realize onscreen, like Rocket Raccoon or Groot, a talking tree.
While Sandler has never appeared in a superhero film before, Carrey has, recently starring in Kick-Ass 2. Carrey also appeared in Batman Forever.
Collider notes that Marvel has yet to announce any actors attached to the project, which will be directed by James Gunn. They are looking to cast the lead role of Star-Lord. Wes Bentley (American Beauty), Chris Lowell (The Help), and Cam Gigandet (Easy A) are reportedly the actors Marvel is looking at for the role.
Guardians of the Galaxy is set to hit theaters in 3D on Aug. 1, 2014.
Carrey will next be seen in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone with Steve Carell in March. Sandler recently starred in That’s My Boy and is working on a sequel to Grown-Ups.
