Michael Phelps is a single man

Olympic gold medalist swimmer Michael Phelps is a free man.

TMZ reports that Phelps broke up with his model girlfriend, Megan Rossee, after he felt the relationship wasn’t going anywhere and he wanted to keep his options open.

The 25-year-old beauty and 27-year-old Olympic champ first stepped out in London during the summer Olympics, Seattle Pi reports.

Us Weekly reports that Phelps is slated to appear on the Golf Channel’s The Haney Project.

Phelps, who retired from his swimming career in 2012, expressed his desire to explore other adventures saying, “I have traveled the world through swimming, but really haven’t had an opportunity to experience the world through my travels. As I enter this next chapter of my life, I think I will be able to shift my competitiveness to anything I put my mind to and golf is one of the things I want to focus on."

The Olympic medalist's golf appearance is expected to air in February.
