Country singer Mindy McCready was devastated to learn that her longtime partner David Wilson had taken his own life. Now the 37-year-old is opening up about the loss, the suicide and speculation that she had involvement in Wilson’s death in an interview with Dateline.
According to E! News, McCready sat down with Andrea Canning, who asked her if she had a hand in Wilson’s death.
She responds, "Oh my god, no. Oh my god, no. He was my life. We were each other's life. There's no way to tell where one of us began and the other ended. We slept together every night holding hands."
Wilson was found dead earlier this month from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Canning questions McCready if she feels his death was suicide or if he was murdered, a question McCready can’t clearly answer, saying, “I don’t know,” explaining, “I don't understand why he would leave us."
She also took a moment to blast reports of an affair, noting that “everyone has fights” but that doesn’t mean he was unfaithful. “David was not having an affair with another woman…That is absolutely, totally untrue. Neither one of us have ever cheated on each other and would never do that. That is absolutely a lie."
