Monaco royals criticize the portrait of Grace Kelly as “historical untruths”

Grace Kelly, the late legendary Hollywood actress and a true princess, is played by actress Nicole Kidman in an upcoming film Grace of Monaco. However, the royal family of Grace Kelly recently criticized the film, as an incorrect portray of Kelley and says that the production gets no support from them.

According to BBC, Prince Albert Ⅱand his sisters released the statement, saying the film contained “major historical untruths and a series of purely fictional scenes”. The film’s producer, Pierre-Ange Le Progam, defended that ,“The film is not intended to tell the true story of the principality”.

According to NJ.com, the film intends not to be a biopic but to depict Kelly’s role in a dispute between her husband, Prince Rainier Ⅲ,and France's Charles De Gaulle in the early 1960s. The film will be shown in 2014.

Grace Kelly is a Hollywood icon, starring in several classics films, including High Noon, Mogambo and Rear Window. She married Monaco’s Price Rainier Ⅲ in 1956, to become Princess consort of Monaco, and commonly referred to as Princess Grace. She stopped acting after marriage. She died in a car accident in 1982, aged 52.
