NBC has greenlighted a trio of new shows, ordering pilots for three potential comedy projects from people with plenty of TV experience.
First up is an untitled series from The Office’s Greg Daniels. According to Entertainment Weekly, the show is described as a view of dating through the eyes of twentysomethings. Matthew is the central character here and is egged on by his friends to start dating again. Robert Padnick, Tracy Katsky and Howard Klein are the executive producers.
From Will Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions comes Assistance, a project from Bachelorette writer Leslye Headland. The Hollywood Reporter notes that this single-camera project focuses on Nora, an assistant who has a larger-than-life boss but also has her own life to handle. Gary Sanchez is co-producing with Universal TV Studios.
Finally, Geyer Kosinski, an executive producer for Starz’ Magic City, is going to add Donor Party to his producing credits. Community’s Alex Schemmer will write the script, which centers on a man who finally learns to grow up after meeting the children from the days he donated sperm. A single mom then comes into the picture after telling him about his son.
NBC has plenty of other pilots in the works, including a comedy based on About A Boy. Dramas in the works include After Hours, Bloodline and I Am Victor.
