The first photo of British actor Benedict Cumberbatch as the controversial WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange in the his latest film, The Fifth Estate, has been released.
The still, found on E! News and other sites, shows the Sherlock and Star Trek Into Darkness actor as platinum-blonde and going far outside the hair-box department, with co-star Daniel Brühl of Inglourious Basterds as German activist Daniel Domscheit-Berg, the site's former spokesman.
Directed by Bill Condon, the DreamWorks film is adapted from Domscheit-Berg's book Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange at the World's Most Dangerous Website. It is also based on David Leigh and Luke Harding’s WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War On Secrecy. The script is by Josh Singer.
Also starring Laura Linney, Anthony Mackie and David Thewlis, the film started principal production Tuesday and is due for theaters Nov. 15, according to Entertainment Weekly. Participant Media is co-producing.
