The newest Zombie rom-com Warm Bodies has less than impressed movie critics.
The film, based on the novel of the same name by Isaac Marion, follows the young zombie “R” (Nicholas Holt) as he falls in love with the living Julie (Teresa Palmer). Intended to parallel Romeo and Juliet, the story includes action, romance, and of course, a little violence.
Despite the classic plot line, USA Today claimed the film “defies logic” and makes even Twilight “look positively intelligent.”
The San Francisco Chronicle also knocked the film, claiming that it “lacks the ability to surprise.”
Warm Bodies, which is set to open February 1st, is still expected to have a decent opening weekend according to Entertainment Weekly , despite it opening on Super Bowl weekend. Overall, it’s estimated to make a total of $18 million for the weekend.
With the bad movie reviews and recent split with Hunger Games’ Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Holt does seem be having a rough time in 2013.
