Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone are going to have to set their alarms for really early in the morning Thursday. The Oscars host and the Gangster Squad star will be announcing the Oscar nominations Thursday morning.
The two will reveal the nominees for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and the other categories during the press conference, which is scheduled for 5:30 a.m. PT (8:30 a.m. ET). It will be held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
This is the first time since 1972 that a host is going to help announce the nominees. The only other time this happened was that year, when Charlton Heston performed the role. It continues a tradition started in 1964, when the Academy president was joined by one or more stars to announce the nominees.
In 2011, Stone starred in The Help, which was nominated for Best Picture last year. She also recently starred in The Amazing Spider-Man, Crazy, Stupid, Love and Easy A. She stars alongside Ryan Gosling and Sean Penn in Gangster Squad, which hits theaters Friday. She also voiced a character in The Croods.
MacFarlane is best known as the creator of Family Guy and made his feature film debut in 2012 with the surprise hit Ted.
The 85th Academy Awards will be held on Feb. 24 and will air live on ABC. The Academy announced last week that this year’s ceremony will include a tribute to the James Bond franchise.
