Phil Jackson and Jeanie Buss finally engaged

Phil Jackson, an 11-time NBA Champion coach has been in a relationship with Jeanie Buss, the executive vice president of the Los Angeles Lakers, since 1999. Last Wednesday, Jackson finally decided to propose and Buss accepted.

Buss couldn’t wait to show off her ring on Twitter, as she tweeted a picture on her account. In a recent interview, ESPN reports that Buss said, “I'm beyond happy. I really didn't want it to be news, but I knew people who followed me on Twitter cared about it and I've been wearing the ring since Christmas, so I figured I should let people know.” The date for the wedding hasn't been set yet, but the excitement has just begun.

The relationship between the veteran coach and the executive vice president has been public for a very long time. People might wonder why the couple took so long to get married and in 2011, it seemed apparent that they never would.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Buss said in an interview, “He just doesn't want to get married again; it’s not that he doesn’t want to marry me. It took me a while to understand that, and I’m fine with it now. We’ve been together for over 10 years. This relationship has been my longest and most successful. So I’m very happy.”

That obviously is no longer the case since the couple is now engaged. This will be Jackson's third marriage.
