Playboy founder Hugh Hefner's longtime secretary and housemother, Mary O'Connor, died last weekend.

TMZ reported that Hefner had O'Connor as his secretary for more than 40 years - the longest relationship he ever had with a woman.

O'Connor, who was featured with other residents of the Playboy mansion in Girls Next Door, had been dealing with health issues recently.

A source told TMZ, Hefner took this matter extremely hard.

Hefner tweeted, "Mary passed away today. We loved her more than words can say."

Hefner said that Mary O'Connor was the rock of the Playboy mansion, and currently, the house's mood was incredibly sad.

Some of the Girls Next Door stars tweeted, portraying their condolences to the mother of the house, E! News reported.

Hefner's former girlfriend, Kendra Wilkinson tweeted, "RIP Mary O'Connor. She was an amazing person who helped me through so much. But I know she's happy with her boo Captain Bob. :)"

Hefner's current wife, Crystal Harris tweeted, "Hef's long time secretary & my dear friend Mary O'Connor has passed away. It's a very sad day here at the Playboy Mansion. We love you Mary."

O'Connor appeared in some episodes of Girls Next Door, frequently seen to give nurturing, motherly touch the party house needed.
