Rapper Lupe Fiasco was escorted off the stage at a pre-inauguration concert which celebrated President Obama’s second term. The rapper, who has been critical of the president in the past, rapped about why he didn’t vote for him and was then taken off stage by guards.
According to The Washington Post, Lupe was performing at the StartUp RockOn event Sunday night, where he sang a 30-minute anti-war song.
“Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist,” Lupe can be heard rapping. “Gaza Strip was getting bombed, Obama didn't say sh*t. That's why I ain't vote for him, next one either,” he rapped, reports Politico.
HyperVocal, one of the organizers of the event, released a statement saying that Lupe was not kicked off for the anti-Obama lyrics.
“We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech,” the statement reads. “This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.”
Lupe has been critical of Obama, once calling him in an interview “someone who is a great speaker, but kills little children.”
