'Real Housewives of Miami' star Alexia Ecchevaria sues over son's horrific car accident

By Gavriella Tjandra,

Real Housewives of Miami star Alexia Ecchevaria is suing her insurance broker $2 million, after her son’s disastrous car accident left her drowning in medical bills.

Ecchevaria filed a lawsuit in a Florida court against Garcia Lorenzo & Associates claiming that they failed to effectively implement her insurance policy, TMZ reported.

Ecchevaria alleges that in 2008 she requested a special type of extra coverage that would have helped cut the expenses incurred by her son's accident, but that the insurance broker overlooked that part of the agreement.

The judge has yet to rule.

Ecchevaria's 13-year-old son, Frankie, was involved in a serious car accident this past August, in which he sustained severe injuries to both brain and body, The Daily Mail reported.

Frankie underwent pelvic surgery, and is still recovering.

The medical costs come at an inopportune time for Ecchevaria, as she and her husband Herman owe the IRS almost $100,000 in unpaid taxes, according to The Huffington Post.
