Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker was set to star as Gloria Steinem in the Rob Epstein and Jeffery Friedman directed film Lovelace- but has since been cut out of the film.
Lovelace, which focuses on Linda Lovelace, a woman abused by the adult film industry and her husband, is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, Star Pluse reports.
Parker’s addition to the cast was a late one, Zap2It reports. Her name was added to the cast list after actress Demi Moore pulled out following health issues.
Amanda Seyfried stars as Linda, who by 1984 becomes an anti-porn advocate. During the editing process Friedman and Epstein explain to Entertainment Weekly that they opted to end Linda’s story in 1980, which is several years before she would have met Gloria Steinem.
The directors discussed having to break the news to SJP after she rushed to learn the part in Moore’s absence.“You never want to make that call,” Friedman said. Espstein adds, “But she was a pro.”
