Secret Service dog dies in line of duty

Over the weekend, a U.S. Secret Service dog, a Belgian Malinois, died in New Orleans while sniffing for bombs.

According to Yahoo News, the bomb-sniffing dog was checking out a six-story parking garage near the Ritz Carlton where Vice President Joe Biden was giving a speech for the re-election campaign of U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, D-La.

New Orleans police told WWL-TV that the dog fell from the parking garage at about 6pm on Saturday.

According to the local New Orleans station, Federal Agents rushed the brave dog to a Metairie Veterinary hospital via motorcade, but were unable to save her.

Secret Service spokesman Max Milien told CNN that dog's death was a "tragic accident."
