Skrillex moves away from Dubstep genre

By Drew Barile,

Skrillex, the famous EDM DJ, is well-known for his hard hitting drops and unique adaptations on traditional drum and bass dubstep. However, he recently released an EP, titled Leaving, that is a move away from his characteristic sound.

Anyone who lives EDM life or has just discovered electronic music knows Skrillex, but all will be slightly surprised at his new EP, Leaving which was released Thursday. The Huffington Post commented that the new track has a "spare, stripped down production with clean drums and nary a trace of his typical wobble."

However, Skrillex has already come to terms with himself as an artist and hopes others will too. Skrillex told Pitchfork, "It's a shame, people are like, 'Oh, I heard about him, he’s the crazy dubstep guy,' and they listen expecting that."

He went onto add, "If anything, I just want people to actually have their own opinions about me."

Skrillex like most EDM artists is ever evolving and changing based on what he likes and would like to experiment with. He told Pitchfork "I'm not chasing opportunity. I don't wanna do something for money if I'm not interested in it."

For those new to EDM and like Skrillex you might also like Nero, Diplo, Rusko, Roxy Cottontail, and if you like the new EP maybe check out, Something a la mode
