Son of 'Barney' co-creator arrested for attempted murder

Patrick Leach, son of Barney co-creator Sheryl Leach, has been arrested for attempted murder.

According to TMZ, the 27-year-old Leach was arrested in Agora Beach, CA after allegedly attempting to murder a 49-year-old Malibu man. Leach allegedly shot the man in the chest and a substantial amount of evidence has been recovered tying him to the crime.

The news was first reported by The Acorn, which notes that the incident stems from an alleged trespassing incident. As it stands, Leach is free on $1 million bail.

Leach was found after a vehicle matching the description of the getaway vehicle was spotted by a neighbor.

The police have noted that the investigation is still ongoing, and Sgt. Hugo Mosquero has told the site of the help he has received from the community noting, “These people are neighbors. Everybody here did an outstanding job.”

The victim’s name has not been revealed at this time, he is expected to make a full recovery.
