Taco Bell anti-veggie commercial pulled after number of complaints

One of Taco Bell’s latest ads has now been pulled off the air after receiving negative feedback regarding its apparent anti-vegetable message.

The commercial is intended to sell their 12-pack of tacos, but the voiceover is what really caught people’s attention. Taking place at a Super Bowl Party, after a veggie platter is briefly shown next to the box of tacos, Zap2It reports that an announcer says during the ad, "Veggies on game day is like punting on fourth and one. It's a cop out. And secretly? People kinda' hate you for it."

According to The Associated Press, complaints reached Taco Bell headquarters via Twitter after The Center for Science in the Public Interest, encouraged people to complain about the commercials message.

It wasn’t long after the complaints and protests that the ad was pulled off the air.

Rob Poetsch, a Taco Bell spokesman, said in a statement regarding the issue, "We didn't want anyone to misinterpret the intent of the ad.”
