Taylor Swift and Harry Styles avoid each other in France

Artist Taylor Swift and One Direction’s Harry Styles, formerly an item, managed to avoid a potentially awkward encounter at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France on Jan. 26 by arranging their appearances to prevent interaction.

A source told Us Weekly, "It was very carefully timed so they didn't do the carpet at the same time. [Swift] didn't do any backstage interviews and didn't use a dressing room — she changed at the hotel because she didn't want to see [Styles] at any point. ...Things were timed to keep them apart and for it to not become a big media circus."

Their careful planning had Swift appear on the carpet about 25 minutes after Styles arrived along with his boy band, according to NYDailyNews.

The split between the lovebirds became public last month after they reportedly argued while vacationing in the British Virgin Islands.

Us had an insider tell them, "They had a fight” and Styles had "said something he shouldn't have … This [breakup] is definitely going to be for good."

Speculation has begun as to whether Swift is already preparing for her next post break-up song.
