TNT picks up unscripted Jerry Bruckheimer series after dropping ‘Trooper’

By Daniel S Levine,

TNT has picked up another original unscripted series, this time from producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The news comes just days after the network decided not to go forward with Bruckheimer’s Trooper.

The unscripted series is currently titled Marshall Law: Texas and focuses on U.S. Marshalls in Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force based in Houston. They solve violent crimes and often catch some of the country’s most wanted criminals, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

TNT has been busy this week, having also picked up Cold Justice and Save Our Business, both unscripted shows. The network also has Donnie Wahlberg’s Boston's Finest, Dwayne Johnson’s The Hero and 72 Hours all premiering this year.

On the scripted side, Deadline confirmed that Bruckheimer’s Trooper, which was to star Mia Sorvino, will not go beyond the pilot stage, although it did pick up King & Maxwell.

Entertainment Weekly also confirmed yesterday that the network ordered a pilot of Murder in the First. The project comes from NYPD Blue and Hill Street Blues’ Steven Bochco and is described as a The Killing style crime drama set in San Francisco.
