Cissy Houston sat down with Oprah Winfrey, along with her son Michael, where the two opened up about the late White Houston. Michael made a shocking statement, blaming himself for getting the iconic “I Will Always Love You” singer addicted to crack cocaine.
The blame for Whitney’s drug addiction was also on the shoulders of ex-husband Bobby Brown, so Michael’s admission took many by surprise. Entertainment Weekly reports that in the interview, which aired Monday on OWN, revealed Michael’s admission to drug use with his late sister.
“I feel responsible for her, I always have. I just felt like I should have taken better care of her,” and “Everything we did together growing up, when I started [using] drugs we did that together too. It just got out of hand,” he confessed.
"You gotta understand at the time ... the '80s ... it was acceptable…It's painful ... I feel responsible for what I let go so far,” he explains as quoted by TMZ.
Whitney died on the eve of the Grammys Feb. 2012. She was found in her bathtub following a lethal dose of prescription and illegal drugs, as well as alcohol in her system.
