The Royal Family confirmed early this morning that Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge’s first child is due in July.
In a statement to the media, a rep for the palace said, “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July,” reports USA Today.
St. James Palace also gave an update of Kate’s health, noting, “The Duchess's condition continues to improve since her stay in hospital last month.”
The news comes just days after Kate’s first official portrait was unveiled. While Prince William called it “just beautiful,” the portrait has been criticized around the world. Although Kate’s illness has prevented her from making fewer public apeparances, she did attend the unveiling.
William and Kate’s baby will become the next king or queen of the U.K. and will be third in line to the throne, following Prince Charles and William.
