Willow Smith has posted her newest single “Sugar and Spice” online, showcasing being in the spotlight in such a young age.
The 12-year-old daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith sings in her new single, “I tried to be sugar and spice / But I'm melancholy and can't do anything right."
Smith burst out on to the scene with her debut single “Whip My Hair,” and followed that up with “I Am Me” last summer, AOL Music reports.
Her latest single is getting compared to Radiohead’s most recent album, according to The Huffington Post. Some comments posted on YouTube include “this song is deep” and Vulture calls it “teen angst.”
Smith’s Tumblr username is “arbre mort,” which means dead tree.
Furthermore, at one point in the song, Smith sings, "Inject my soul with darkness” and features other girls’ voices criticizing someone for being ugly.
In her song “I Am Me,” Smith addressed issues such as her critics and growing up. She sang, “People don't like the way I dress, or where I'm at. I dye my hair and it's not just vanity. Your validation is just not that important to me. I am me. I am free. That's all I can be."
