104-year-old woman has to lie about her age on Facebook

A 104-year-old woman must lie on Facebook about her age due to a glitch in the system.

Marguerite Joseph, who will be 105 years old in a few months, cannot input her birth year, 1908, on the social networking site. According to Facebook, Joseph has been 99 years old for the past two years, reported The Huffington Post.

Joseph has written in her “About” section that she was in fact born on April 19, 1908 and that Facebook wouldn’t let her post her actual birth date. Included is a brief description about herself, accompanied by a link to an article about her 100th birthday.

Joseph uses the site to keep in touch with her many friends and family members including her twelve grandchildren.

"I am a wealth of knowledge and history and love to tell my stories," she explains.

MSN has shared that Joseph, who cannot hear well, is also legally blind yet has her granddaughter respond to all of her Facebook messages.

Facebook has apologized for the malfunction and is working to fix the error.
