Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has never been shy to talk about his drug use during the band’s rough times. In his latest interview, Tyler estimates that he must have spent at least $5 million on cocaine.
E! News reports that the singer first estimated that he poured $20 million of his fortune into cocaine use when he wrote his 2011 memoir, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?. But while speaking to Australia’s 60 Minutes, he lowered that a little bit.
“Realistically, 5 or 6,” Taylor explained to reporter Liz Hayes, notes News.com.au. “But it doesn't matter. You also could say I snorted half of Peru, but it doesn't matter.”
Hayes noted that Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry were often called the “toxic twins” in their early days. Even though he’s sober now, Tyler says that they can still be toxic on the stage.
“We can still be toxic. We fight toxic and we play toxic,” he said.
Tyler and Perry were recently added to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in a class that also includes J.D. Souther and Mick Jones and Lou Gramm of Foreigner. The induction ceremony will take place on June 13 in New York.
