Andy Samberg engaged to Joanna Newsom

Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg popped the question to singer and harpist Joanna Newsom, and she said yes!

Us Weekly confirms that the 34-year-old actor/comedian and 31-year-old musician Joanna Newsom, who have been dating for five years, are now engaged.

Samberg had reportedly been crushing on Newsom and attending her shows before the two were introduced through mutual friends.

Newsom is also supportive of Samberg’s work, including the comical tracks he performs as part of The Lonely Island.

“They have great chemistry,” an insider revealed to Us Weekly.

Although the couple has been together for half a decade, their low-profile relationship has kept their names out of the tabloids.

Newsom has released three albums throughout her career, her most recent in 2010 titled Have One on Me.

Since his routines on Saturday Night Live, Samberg has starred in Celeste and Jesse Forever alongside Rashida Jones, That’s My Boy with Adam Sandler, and the BBC sitcom Cuckoo.

He also hosted the Independent Spirit Awards held in Santa Monica, California on Saturday, February 23.

“I had always watched it [Independent Spirit Awards], and liked it. It felt like an opportunity to do jokes, and the vibe in the room is great,” he told The Hollywood Reporter when asked what spurred his decision.

“If it’s bad, no one can blame me, though, because I didn’t try,” he joked prior to the ceremony.
