Anne Hathaway caused quite a stir at Sunday night’s Oscars.
The actress wore a pale pink Prada gown instead of Valentino, one of her favorite designers, according to CNN. Hathaway told Ryan Seacrest it was a last minute decision, saying it was “the one that spoke to me in the end.”
She told reporters on the red carpet that she didn’t know what she was wearing two hours before the ceremony. After going through many dresses, she favored the simplicity of the Prada gown.
Hathaway has a long history with Valentino, and wore a red dress of his to the 2011 Oscars. She also wore a custom gown at her wedding last year.
The mix-up didn’t sit well with Valentino. Hathaway issued an apology to smooth over any misunderstanding.
“It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans. Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused.”
Jennifer Aniston was the only other actress wearing Valentino on Sunday, according to WWD. The media was also buzzing about Hathaway because many believed the dress emphasized certain body parts.
