Anne Hathaway avoided a fashion conundrum by switching out the Valentino gown she was set to wear for a Prada one instead.

Anne Hathaway’s light pink Prada gown was a surprise for the audience, who is used to seeing the Les Misérables actress in Valentino designs for red carpet events, reports E! Online. In fact, Hathaway had a custom-made Valentino dress designed for her wedding this past September. Stranger still, Valentino had released a statement to the press promising Anne would don one of his creations at the Oscars.
Apparently, hours before Hathaway arrived, she had learned that co-star Amanda Seyfried’s Alexander McQueen dress was going to be far too similar to her own - both off-white gowns featured a floral pattern. A side-by-side comparison of Seyfried’s dress and the Valentino dress Hathaway had originally planned to wear can be seen here.
“I didn’t know what I was wearing until about three hours ago,” Hathaway told Ryan Seacrest on the carpet, finally having decided on the Prada alternate. “This is the one that spoke to me in the end.”
Later in the evening, Anne won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Les Mis.
However, instead of having her mind on the adrenaline from a fresh win, she continues to look to the future, according to The Telegraph.
“This is spectacular, but if you want to get realistic with it, you’re always looking for the next job.”
And Hathaway has no plans of taking a break anytime soon.
“I’m going to ride this wave as long as I can, but I always feel as an actor, gotta work gotta work gotta work,” she concluded.
