During a shooting incident that took place at dawn Thursday morning, aspiring rapper Kenny Clutch, whose real name is Kenny Cherry Jr., was killed among two others.
According to The Chicago Tribune, Kenny was driving in his Maserati when an unknown shooter in a black range rover shot at his car at 4:20 a.m. After being shot, the car quickly accelerated, running a red light and hitting a taxi before blowing up in flames. Both the taxi driver and passenger were killed as well.
Kenny had moved to Vegas to pursue rapping and had already created two music videos, one of which featured his beloved Maserati.
Cherry’s lawyer told CNN, “Out of everyone I know in the rapping industry, there is no way I would have ever, ever expected to find that he was shot on the Las Vegas Strip in such an aggressive manner. He didn't have a (criminal) record or a history. He was just a good kid trying to make it and be a good father.”
Cherry’s aunt Pat Sims also commented on the tragedy, telling the Oakland Tribune, “I can tell you this ... the world has lost a good man. I'm not saying he didn't have his faults, but he was very kind, especially to older people.”
The event took pace just two bocks away from the site of Tupac’s death. The police continue the manhunt for the shooter.
