The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik recently announced she finally stopped breastfeeding her four-year-old son, Fred.
She shared the news on Feb. 6 in a blog post on the Jewish parenting website Kveller, according to Us Weekly.
"We did it,” Bialik posted. “Fred isn't going to nurse on his way down the wedding aisle or at his high school graduation. I didn't need to break him of a 'habit' and teach him 'who's in charge.' I didn't need to set boundaries you thought I should have set when I didn't want to set them. Because we did it: Fred weaned."
However, Bialik admitted that the adjustment hasn’t exactly been easy.
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss being able to latch him on and make it all better. We have other ways to soothe Fred now,” she wrote.
The actress, who also has a seven-year-old son named Miles, has been an open advocate of attachment parenting, Hollywood Life reported. Her decision to breastfeed Fred for the extended period of time supposedly caused a bit of controversy in 2011 when her alternative parenting-style became apparent.
