‘Blade Runner’ Oscar Pistorius on suicide watch in prison

Following Oscar Pistorius’ devastating hearing yesterday, during which the athlete wept uncontrollably throughout, South African police have placed him under suicide watch.

26-year-old Pistorius was charged with murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp this past Valentine’s Day and was refused bail. He is currently being held at the Brooklyn Police Station prison in Pretoria, according to DNA India .

A source told The Mirror , “Oscar feels as though he has descended into hell. He is absolutely devastated.”

His uncle Arnold Pistorius claims the runner is “numb with shock, as well as grief.” The entire family has come out strongly against the charges.

During his court appearance yesterday it was revealed that Steenkamp was shot four times — in the head, wrist, finger, and arm. One of the prosecution teams argued in favor of pre-meditated murder, to which his uncle replied, “We have no doubt there is no substance to the allegation and that the state's own case, including its own forensic evidence, strongly refutes any possibility of a premeditated murder,” reported The Daily Mail .

The athlete has already offered his sincere condolences to Steenkamp’s family.
