Blizzard keeps Katie Holmes from her own fashion show

Many Hollywood glitterati flocked to New York Fashion Week to see Katie Holmes present her clothing line with stylist Jeanne Yang. However, seemingly absent from the tent was Katie herself.

Why would Katie skip out on her own fashion show? She didn't. A blizzard prevented the actress and designer from attending, People Style Watch reports.

PSW says the blizzard currently battering the East Coast caused Holmes's daughter Suri's school to let its students out early. Because of this, Holmes had to skip out on the fashion show to pick up her daughter.

However, although Holmes missed the show, her reason represents the essence of what she and Yang are trying to achieve with their Holmes & Yang line: fashion mixed with practicality.

"Our customer is somebody who wants to be comfortable," Yang told PSW. “You want to look good, but Katie and I always talk about this, it should never come at the cost of comfort.”

Reinforcing this notion, Holmes told The New York Times the goal of their line is to "make high-quality pieces that are simple enough, you can wear over and over again."

Holmes made headlines last year when she and ex-husband Tom Cruise divorced.
