“Bruce was incredible all night,” an anteed exclaimed, “From his taking over the auction of one of his signed guitars in hysterical fashion to get the most possible money for the charity to his wonderful acceptance speech to his off-the-charts performance.”
Not only was Springsteen honored, but one lucky fan who bid a whopping $250,000 at the benefit auction was honored at the event by receiving a kiss and guitar lessons from The Boss himself, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The event was also joined by Grammy nominated Mumford and Sons, The Dixie Chicks, Jon Stewart and John Legend; Conan O’Brien and Sean Penn where also in attendance.
Musicians took the stage to perform their favorite Springsteen songs in a wide variety of renditions for the man of the hour to enjoy. In his speech, he expressed his pleasure of listening to the talented group take on his most iconic songs.
“Thanks for taking care of my songs tonight,” he exclaimed to the crowd. “You made me feel like the person of the year. Now give me that damn guitar!”
