Celtics health issues cause more problems

By Jassum Gloster,

The Boston Celtics having been dealing with health issues all season. Their most notable injury came to Rajon Rondo, the star point guard who tore his ACL. Just when things seemed to be looking up by winning six games in a row, back up guard, Leandro Barbosa, went down too with an ACL injury.

According to the Boston Herald, when Kevin Garnett was asked about the situation, he said, "You know, you’re messing with these guys, and then all of a sudden you’re seeing season-ending injuries. It's tough, man. We're grinding right now. I think the blow of Barbosa right now is kind of the fog or the cloud that's in the room right now." He was an integral part of the Celtics’ offense. With Rondo going down, Barbosa was able to drive to the basket and open up guys on the wing like Garnett and Paul Pierce to shoot open shots.

It’s a shame that he is now injured. ESPN Boston reports that Barbosa said after Rondo was out for the season, that he had his chance to help his teammates, and that he was quite elated over the opportunity. The Celtics will most likely reach into the NBA’s developmental league and pick up a guard from there, but an alternate plan could arise before the trade deadline.
