It seems as though Chris Brown still harbors some bitterness for fellow rap rival, Frank Ocean. Although Ocean received a standing ovation during the acceptance of his Grammy, Chris Brown conspicuously remained seated, further fueling the feud between the two rappers.
Perez Hilton reported that although the two were both nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Ocean’s “Channel Orange” defeated Brown’s “Fortune.” Brown, seated next to girlfriend Rihanna during the ceremony, was visible sitting obstinately in his seat while the entire audience gave Ocean a standing ovation.
According to The New York Daily News, Brown did stand up and congratulate Rihanna for her Bob Marley tribute performance.
Brown was recently involved in an altercation with Ocean and six other men over a parking spot on Santa Monica Boulevard. Ocean claimed that during the brawl, the “Don’t Wake Me Up” singer attacked him, but he did not press charges.
Brown received a verbal backlash for his snub via Twitter. One user wrote, "Chris Brown has zero class and is disgusting.”
Although Brown showed hostility toward the "Thinkin' About You" singer, Ocean has been applauded for resisting the sometimes homophobic tendencies of the rap culture. On July 4, 2012, Ocean published a letter to his Tumblr admitting to falling in love with a man when he was 19.
