Christina Applegate leaves 'Up All Night'

By Shay Trotter,

Christina Applegate has announced her plans to depart NBC’s show Up All Night.

Applegate, who played Reagan Brinkley on the show, provided a statement to Entertainment Weekly explaining the reasoning behind her departure.

“It’s been a great experience working on Up All Night, but the show has taken a different creative direction and I decided it was best for me to move on to other endeavors,” she said. “Working with Lorne Michaels has been a dream come true and I am grateful he brought me into his TV family. I will miss the cast, producers and crew, and wish them the best always.”

According to E!, it was announced last month that the show’s creator, Emily Spivey, departed the series, as well. The show has since been changed into a multi-camera format.

Deadline, who first announced the news, reports that the network now has to decide whether to recast the role and has considered Lisa Kudrow as a potential replacement.
