Christina Ricci is going to work at NBC, starring in one of the network’s comedy pilots.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ricci is close to signing on to star in Girlfriend in a Coma, a project from Liz Brixius (Nurse Jackie) and Dick Wolf. It’s a departure for Wolf, whose better known as the mind behind the Law & Order franchise and the freshman hit Chicago Fire.
The single-camera pilot will be produced by Wolf Films and Universal TV. Brixius, Wolf, Danielle Gelber and Peter Jankowski are executive producing. Brixius wrote the script.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the series focuses on Karen (Ricci), a girl who just woke up from a coma, only to discover that she has a 17-year-old daughter from a pregnancy she had before her life was paused.
Ricci has worked with CBS on The Good Wife and starred in last season’s Pan Am on ABC. That show lasted just one season.
Ricci’s film credits include Sleepy Hollow, Speed Racer and Monster. Her upcoming projects include lending her voice to The Smurfs 2, Fighting To Forgive and Mother's Day.
