Carlos and Barbara Landeros from Vallejo, California planned a romantic dinner for two in San Francisco for Valentine ’s Day only to find a bag filled with $11,000.
Before their dinner last Thursday, the couple decided to take a trip to the famous Golden Gate Bridge where they spotted a black camera bag which was left unattended reports NBC San Diego.
“We waited about 45 minutes before we picked up the bag,” says Mrs. Landeros according to Yahoo! News.
When they looked in the bag they found a camera lens, credits cards, and an envelope full of cash. Mrs. Landeros recalls, “I got nervous at first, it could have been drug money.”
They turned the bag over to the police where they found out the total amount of money came to $11,060. 42.
The owner of the bag was a Chinese tourist named Mark. He did not want to release his last name.
The money had been a combination of his and several other families he had been traveling with.
Mark was able to thank the Landeros couple and give them a check as a reward.
Mr. and Mrs. Landeros were never able to have their romantic dinner for two. They were stuck in traffic on their way home, and ate dinner at McDonald’s.
Mrs. Landero, who believes in karma, says, “…my heart is rested now because the people got their money and their bag.”
